Manual Lympathic Drainage
Manual Lympathic Drainage is a gentle but highly effective form of massage aimed at assisting in the decongestion of the lympathic system, thus improving the elimination of metabolic waste products and excess fluid. It involves the application of specific light techniques which assist in the movement of lymph all over the body and its aim is to help clear blockages and give your whole system a boost.
The lymphatic system is complex and consists of nodes and surrounding lymph vessels which work in parallel with the circulatory system of arteries and veins to ensure the flow of nutrients but also the removal of toxins from our body. It is also an important part of immune system regulation.
If the lympathic system becomes blocked or sluggish a build up of excess fluids may appear and cause oedema. You may also experience a feeling of heaviness and tiredness.
The benefits of Manual Lympathic Drainage are multiple and in addition to boosting the lympathic system it may help with water retention and cellulite, increasing vitality and improving well-being.
Please note that this form of manual lympathic drainage is not meant to treat lymphodema.
